American Universities and Antisemitism

Does it really depend on the context?

This past week we witnessed one of the most tragic displays of morality and humanity on Capitol Hill. Three university presidents, of preeminent American institutions (Harvard, MIT, and the University of Pennsylvania) testified in response to rampant antisemitism on their respective campuses.

I encourage everyone to watch as much of the entire proceedings as possible.

Elizabeth Magill, now formerly of the University of Pennsylvania, has already resigned. That should tell you how well her testimony went.

There is no appropriate context to call for the genocide of another ethnic group.

I wrote about it in more detail this past week, which you can find on polispandit.com and on Medium. That was before the UPenn President had resigned.

I still think the remaining two Presidents, Claudine Gay at Harvard and Sally Kornbluth at MIT should resign as well. In this video, I explain why:

And to be clear, if anyone was arguing for the genocide or destruction of Palestinians on college campuses, I would feel the same way.

We need a moral clarity check. The anti-bias and anti-racist educational pedagogy, filled with lessons on microaggressions, that schools like Harvard push on students and society must be color blind and ethnicity agnostic.

Otherwise, it’s morally bankrupt.
